The old road of Sangdang Mountain Fortress, which was a main street in Cheongju, was transformed into a path through a forest for pedestrians. Cheongju has secured the 600 million won since Cheongju was selected as a Sharing Green Forest development project by the Forest Service. Therefore, Cheongju formed Sharing Green Forest between Myeongam Mineral Spring Resort and Sangdang Mountain Fortress by spending the 1,600 million won.Traffic on the road of Sangdang Mountain Fortress, which was a main road to the Cheogwon-Goesan section, was reduced because of the opening of the Mountain Fortress Tunnel. Eventually, Cheongju stopped the city bus service via Sangdang Mountain Fortress. For this reason, Cheongju transformed the road into an ecological park. On November 6th, the Cheongju mayor, some guests and about 200 local residents attended a building dedication ceremony. Also, 800 fireflies that were donated from the agricultural technology center were released at the ceremony.
  This trail is made up of ‘Healing Road’ for curing the mind, ‘Revival Road’ for communing with nature and ‘Trace Road’ for regaining regional characteristics. There is a stone dealer symbolizing Sangdang Mountain Fortress and a rest area on Healing Road. Also, Revival Road and Trace Road consists of a fountain, a botanical garden and an observatory. Song Sun-hwa(Sugok-dong, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju) said, “Before the new trail was opened, I had driven on this road. It wasn’t easy to pass the rough mountain road, so I had to focus on driving. However, now I can walk this road leisurely. It’s a new experience.”
