On July 10, the annual Sweetcorn Festival was held in the lobby and courtyard of the CBNU College of Agriculture, Life & Environment Sciences. The Sweetcorn Festival is an extension of sweetcorn’s new product exhibition that was held on July 7 in 2023. The Sweetcorn Festival was held with the aim of informing the public that sweetcorn can be used as an ingredient for various foods. | |

From Aug. 7 to 9, the Gaehwa Student Council of CBNU and Sunyul Student Council of Chungnam National University (CNU) held a joint rural volunteer activity in Geumsan-gun, Chungnam Province. A total of 130 students, 65 from each of the two universities, participated in the volunteer program, which was organized as part of the National University Education Program’s “Regional University Cooperation Program,” and helped 10 farmers in Jeawon- myeon, Geumsan-gun. | |

On July 2 in 2024, the Chungbuk Quantum Research Center opened at the CBNU Industrial Technology Research Park. The center aims to develop quantum technology researchers through the University ICT Research Center in CBNU while also facilitating practical courses that connect universities within the province and providing training for corporate employees. | |

From July 1 to 26, the Liberal Education Center and the Student Council at CBNU held a Liberal Arts Course Contest called “What Kind of Liberal arts course Should We Create?” This contest, which began in 2022 and is now for the third year, aims to develop and introduce new liberal arts courses based on ideas proposed by students about the subjects they want to learn in college. The goal is to create a student-centered curriculum. | |

At 4 p.m., a briefing took place in the large lecture room of the College of Social Science (N15) regarding the submission of the integrative application between CBNU and KNUT. During the briefing, the academic structure reform plan related to integrating similar and overlapping departments was revealed. These departments were categorized into three types: Type 1: Overlapping majors with the same name and consistent department classification. | |

On May 7, the Protest to Protect the Name of Chungbuk National University was hosted by the Central Steering Committee, which consists of the Student Council, the Central Autonomous District, and representatives of students from each college. The protest began with a march to Gaesin Cultural Square at 12 p.m. and lasted an hour. It was held in front of the university headquarters. About 700 students participated in the protest, urging opposition to integration and protection for the CBNU name. | |

Students who are interested in the Test Of English for International Communication (TOEIC) program on campus, can now take the test on the CBNU campus. Since May 26, the TOEIC test was offered in the N14 Humanities and Social Studies Center at CBNU. Also, CBNU students qualify for a 10% discount when they register for the test which is only 43,200 KRW compared to the original price of 45,000 KRW. | |

On May 28, the 2024 Rice Planting Event was held at the College of Agriculture, Life & Environment Sciences of CBNU. The Dept. of Crop Science Science hosts a Rice Planting Event at the end of May every year so that students have the opportunity to commemorate the long tradition of rice planting and gain experience as well as academic knowledge. | |

While greeting “The Day of CBNU”, on last March 17, a very special event occurred for Chungbuk Cheongju FC and student council “Gaehwa.” “The Day of CBNU” is the event where CBNU collaborated with a professional football team for the first time. It began with the MOU between the student council, aiming for local development, and Chungbuk Cheongju FC, the localʼs only professional soccer team which is participating in the K LEAGUE 2 since last year. Student council Gaehwa commented “We wanted to provide the new culture, ʻwatching soccerʼ with football club. We are planning various projects about new culture, where watching a soccer game can be established in university. Hence, the first event ʻThe Day of CBNU.ʼ” | |

The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a student military training corps that can be found in many universities in South Korea. The aim of the ROTC is to train elementary-level officers following the example of the ROTC in the U.S. Especially, the ROTC is an essential resource because it produces about 70% in the number of commissioned officers of elementary-level. | |

In “Everytime,” the online student community of CBNU, students mostly express discontent about major subject enrollment during the enrollment period. For example, “Students want to register for their major subjects, but the maximum number of students per class that is set by the department is very small. Therefore, it is very difficult to register for those subjects.” and “I am a student who has a double major. To complete the credits required to graduate, I have to register for a specific subject this semester. I applied for excess registration because the class already had the maximum number of students, however it was not approved.” | |
