Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, CBNU created the new slogan '21st Century Seonbi' to change its ideals of education. However, the school's attitude to deal with some problems students face was far different from the slogan to cultivate people into 21st Century Seonbis. The school has not adequately responded complaints from students and maintained an unconcerned attitude rather than try to mediate problems.
 
As I am sitting in my 8th floor office in the Industrial Technology Research Park overlooking the green hills of Cheongju and reflecting upon the past three years, it seems that it was only yesterday that I embarked upon a venture leaving behind the golden fields of Silicon Valley that hosts world¡¯s largest High Technology corporations and the gateway to San Francisco Bay area.
 
In college of the social sciences, Students are discussing about Chungbuk National University's new crisis on 26th, september.

I wrote an article about abandoned animals in this edition. I interviewed the director of a veterinary hospital and reported the circumstances of the abandoned animals. I want to discuss about Koreans' thoughts and attitudes about abandoned animals.
 
Gangpool`s cartoon "Romance Comics¡° is a famous cartoon in Korea. The cartoon recorded 60 million hits on the internet, and it was remade into a movie and a play.
 
¡®Korean language school¡¯ in the center. GLP is a student exchange program. The students study in foreign universities which are sister schools with CBNU. CBNU became affiliated with Cebu Doctor¡¯s University in Cebu, Philippines in February.
 
You have stepped forward in your first step to explore your college life as a new member of the CBNU family. Almost one month has passed since you came into this new world, and now you have four years waiting ahead of you. Being a freshman can be challenging, and very important because your freshman year sets the foundational stage for your entire life. Sometimes, you may think that you shouldn't worry about your future yet, just because you are a freshman. Sometimes, you may also think that college can be the most exciting time in your life and you should enjoy it for the time being, but you should also remember that your current actions can affect your capability necessary to lead the rest of your life.
 
National university incorporation is causing controversies in society as Seoul University and Busan University chose to be incorporated. The national university incorporation is a system that makes national universities like private universities. The government give the right to the universities to make their own budgets while reducing governmental finance support and the number of government employees from school personnel.
 
An opportunity always exists within a crisis. Now, Japan is in a crisis. The country is suffering from the aftermath of a strong earthquake and tsunami. Furthermore, they are exposed to radiation. However, I think that the Japanese crisis might give an opportunity to them.
 
Garbage has increased surprisingly in the streets around CBNU. The level is so serious that the situation was broadcast under the name 'A University Town Having Aches Due to the Garbage' on the local news.
 
A public hearing on the reform of liberal education was held on March 21st at the Gaesin Cultural Center. The public hearing proceeded on the basis of a research paper on liberal education, which had been conducted from October 2010 to January 2011.
 
Lately, I watched the TV drama by chance, and I realized the mass media has instigated people to fall victim to lookism. Not only cable TV shows but also public TV programs regard appearance as the most valued quality.
I recognize that good looks gives a good impression. People are quick to have a good feeling toward an attractive person. However...
 
Recently, I read a poetry book, which is the maiden work of Shibata Toyo. Being a 99-year-old granny, her first book was successful. Her mature poems fascinated all of Japan, and soon it became a best-selling book. Last month, the Korean translation was published.

You may say it is just a fashion that will go away soon, so it cannot be a big shot. Unfortunately, however, I have already begun to worry about frequent use of those ¡°would-be¡± Korean passive expressions by my students in their everyday life.
 
The slogan "Hope of Chungju, Pride of Chungbuk" is written in the parking lot of the Head Office building. Whenever I pass by that building, I think that is a very peaceful motto considering that other universities are competing for globalization.
