Recently, too many audition shows have been created. ‘Superstar K’, which came out on cable TV, recorded the highest ratings. The success of ‘Superstar K’ in seasons 1 and 2 have influenced the major TV networks. There are many television shows on the major TV networks such as ‘New Employee’ and ‘Survival: I Am a Singer’. In addition to these, ‘Kiss&Cry’, ‘Challenger’ and ‘Miracle Audition’ will be broadcast soon. The competition is overheating for the domestic broadcast companies due to the appearance of these audition shows.

 Audition shows are attractive. An advantage of the audition shows is to give ordinary people chances to become superstars. I think that audition shows are gaining popularity through this advantage. Many people have passion about their dreams while watching audition shows.
All audiences have different favorite genres of music and voices. Nevertheless, famous singers are eliminated by the evaluation of only 500 audiences in the audition show ‘Survival: I Am a Singer’. Singers who appear on this show rise to the top through many competitions, but this show repeatedly puts them in competitions.  Audition shows also expose participants’ private lives more than their exertion and skill because the difficult backgrounds of the participants arouses the audiences’ sympathy and raises the viewer ratings. I don’t want audition shows to focus on commercial contents to raise their ratings. I hope audition shows will become good programs which encourage participants and highlights their efforts.

 Many people can approach closer to their dreams through audition shows. However, it is undesirable that audition shows force people to compete with each other and expose participants’ private matters to raise their viewer ratings. I hope that audition shows will give inspiration to all challengers and audiences in a positive way.
