During a semester of lectures, CBNU students, especially freshmen, have experienced school events such as gatherings and exams. In June, CBNU students are looking forward to vacation. Most of them will go home and plan a trip with their families or friends. However, some exchange students will stay at school. What will they do? Lu-xuefeng, a Chinese student in a doctorate course, said, ¡°I will conduct an experiment for my studies at CBNU. I can¡¯t leave CBNU for a long time because of my studies. Therefore, I will travel around Cheongju.¡± He even asked for a recommendation of places to travel. Like him, if you are agonizing about where to go because you don¡¯t know Cheongju well, read this article. I will introduce you to some interesting spots around Cheongju.
1) Yukgeori Traditional Market
This market is a traditional market in Cheongju, and its name comes from the 6 streets in front of the market. In the main section, you can buy Korean traditional food and clothing. Also, you can participate in an event where you can make and sell your own food. You can also make and share black bean noodles and rice cakes. There is also a movie day where you can watch animations and movies in a multi-media room.
2 ) Suamgol Village
Suamgol Village was a poor and depressed hillside village where refugees settled down after the Korean War. However, it has been revived since a few years ago thanks to paintings displayed in every corner. This mural village was created by workers who communicated with the residents. The paintings on the walls reflect their lives. For instance, ¡®Crane and Fine Tree¡¯ represents health and longevity. They often used briquettes and handcarts in their work. The area is famous for its photo zones because the cute paintings replicate filming locations from various movies and dramas. You can see the night view of the city at a glance because it is located at the top of Uam Mountain.
3) Cheongnamdae Presidential Villa
Cheongnamdae Presidential Villa is the president¡¯s exclusive vacation home. It translates to ¡®a warm southern Blue House.¡¯ In the beautiful natural atmosphere, you can walk in the footprints of previous presidents. At the Cheongnamdae Presidential Villa, you can experience being a president for a day. From the main building of the villa to the golf course, you can visit where the presidents stayed and see the items they used. At an outdoor stage, you can watch a show that presidents enjoyed watching, such as orchestras or Korean traditional performances. Furthermore, it is famous for its 6 trails named after presidents, because each trail has different characteristics. Walking along the trails, there are roadside trees connecting Cheongnamdae and Daecheong Dam. The path to Daecheong Dam¡¯s lake is also popular.
We have looked at 3 places where you can visit. It is also meaningful to stay at school and spend time with other exchange students. However, unlike busy school days, during the leisurely vacation, how about visiting the famous places in Cheongju that you haven¡¯t visited yet? It will also give you a chance to kill two birds with one stone. It will help you cool your tired brain and give you time to recharge for the next semester. It is time to go on a trip.
