Ahn: It is the push for a Glocal University 30 Project where students come first. There are a total of five principles, the first of which is the principle of prioritizing consensus among CBNU members. If there is no agreement between professors, employees, and students, we will actively demand that no business process be pursued, and we will definitely keep it. Second, we will present to the CBNU admin the principle that student opinions should be reflected in the highest level not only in the glocal project but also in all items on the CBNU agenda. This is because the real owners of CBNU are the students, and they make up the highest percentage of CBNU members. The third is the direct participation of students in the glocal project process. The fourth is to protect the university name and history that students are worried about. The last principle is that if CBNU headquarters shows that students are left behind next year as it did this year, the student council will mobilize all means to respond strongly.

Ahn: The student council will interact directly with students. Until now, the student council communicated only through Instagram and KakaoTalk. In addition to the glocal project, ⸢Gaehwa⸥ will welcome not only concerns and grievances but also ideas and suggestions and voice them to CBNU headquarters. Also, we will faithfully report back the CBNU headquarters’ responses and plans to students. Meetings are scheduled to be held quarterly, but depending on the situation, it may be held monthly or every other month. The venue will rotate from college to college, and when it is held at a specific college, students from other colleges can also participate. In other words, we will provide a forum for communication where any CBNU student will be able to participate.

Lee: While talking with the faculty president about the grade correction application system, I surmised that the faculty council also recognized the need for improvement in the current grade correction application method. However, the faculty council president spoke about the problems related to making the grade correction application into a new system. The entire process of objections should also be stored in the system. We will continue additional discussions in this area. Meanwhile, the problem of abuse of the grade correction application system is solved by imposing sanctions on students if a professor clicks the report button in the system when students make an improper request. Then the academic support department determines if students’ grade correction applications meet the requirements or not. In addition, we plan to provide sufficient advance notice to improper request cases to prevent them from abusing the system.

Ahn: While liaising with CBNU’s academic support department, it became apparent that it is possible to secure sufficient budget to implement the system. Since grade correction is at the discretion of the faculty member, we plan to communicate with the faculty council on a regular basis and implement a grade correction application system that guarantees students’ rights and does not infringe on the faculty’s discretion.

Ahn: The most urgent issue in CBNU is the glocal project. However, since I have already talked about the glocal project, I will talk about the low level of interest in the student council, which is the next big issue that needs to be resolved. Due to the single candidate’s lack of voter turnout in last year’s election in Nov. and this year’s election in March, the student council was operated under an emergency committee system. In order to solve the problem, ⸢Gaehwa⸥ will act for students and raise students’ interest in the student council so that they can understand why the student council is necessary and what the student council is. I think if the student council is able to resolve hidden inconveniences by raising awareness, it can increase students’ interest and trust in the student council.

Ahn: Among ⸢Gaehwa⸥’s facility safety pledges is the installation of anti-slip pads on stairs. Inside most of CBNU buildings, anti-slip pads are installed on the stairs, so there is no major threat to students using the stairs. However, there are instances where the stairs outside the buildings do not have anti-slip pads yet. For example, the stairs going up from the College of Natural Sciences to the on-campus cafe, and the stairs going down to the Gaesin Cultural Center as well as the stairs leading up to the College of Humanities. Stair safety issues are visible, but they are easy to overlook. Therefore, they can pose a serious risk when an accident occurs.
