Science Citation Index(SCI) is a database of Thomson Scientific that includes a theses index of published scientific journals. They decide on registered journals through their own standards and evaluation of experts every year. Being registered on SCI means that the journals achieved recognition all over the world. Bak Myeong-jin(11¡¯ Doctor of Electrical Engineering), who belongs to the Sandan Green Energy Laboratory, wrote 45 theses that are registered on SCI.

¡á You wrote lots of theses; did you have a hard time while writing theses? If you did, how did you overcome it?

It was the hardest thing to go a different way from others. Seeing my friends who got jobs or married, I thought that I was doing a different thing. However, I cheered myself up by thinking it was okay because I have enjoyed my work even though this way was a little slow.

¡á What is the most memorable thesis? What is the reason?

The thesis that I devoted lots of effort to last year is the most memorable one. Usually, the process of evaluating a thesis takes from 6 months to 1 year. IEEE is the most famous electric and electronic society in the world. I submitted my thesis to IEEE first, and the evaluation took 1 year and 6 months. This was the hardest time. If the thesis is rejected after 1 year of evaluating, the thesis would lose value because trends change. I was nervous because of that reason, and this process was hard. That point makes it memorable.

¡á What was your most intriguing thesis?
I think the whole process of writing a thesis is fun. Some people who were thinking about graduate school asked me which professor or professor¡¯s office would be good. However, I recommend considering your favorite things. Graduate courses are easy to feel difficulty because they are specialized.

¡á What subject is interesting nowadays?

Now, I am writing a thesis about keeping a formation using several drones. I am interested in this field. This inspiration is a class of the College of Business. This class about making a simulation of the relationships among humans by using computer software is a ¡®system simulation¡¯ of Prof. Gim Sang-uk. I was surprised after realizing that the relationships among humans are similar with the relationships among drones. This is what I am studying now. I research how to move the system and how to control the machines. I find that machines are understood as humans in the Business Administration. The process of communication among humans is similar with a machine¡¯s process. This point became the inspiration of my thesis.

¡á What do you want to say to Chungbuk National University students?

When I went to a workshop, a professor of my university said to have pride in Chungbuk National University. If we don¡¯t have pride, it is easy forget why I study here and lose passion. I think pride for my university is important.
