The First Female President of CBNU
Á¦ 121 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2010.11.28

'Choi Won-mi was elected as the first female president of CBNU. In the election of the 43rd GSA that was held on the 24th, The team, "The Plus," received 4,959(58.6%%) votes, and the team, "Reborn," received 2,738(33%) votes. The votes chose "The Plus" as the new GSA president by a margin of 2,196 votes. The candidate for the president of "The Plus" is Choi Won-mi(Dept. of Astronomy & Space Science, '08), and the candidate for the vice president of "The Plus" is Jeong Seung-heum(School of Animal Science, '07).
After watching the results of the election, "The Plus" looked at each other incredulously and stood with a dazed expression on their faces. At once, they cheered together and tossed the next president of GSA into the air.
The candidate for vice president, Jeong Sung-hum, mentioned, "We thought we were behind the rival team, so we didn't expect this amazing result. From now on, we will have to work hard and not forget our original intentions."
This year, the number of total voters was 13,670 people, and 8,464 people participated. This voter turnout was 62%, and it is 1.22% higher in comparison with last year's voter turnout(60.78%). Also, the margin of error totalled 0.001%. It is a very low percentage and shows high credibility. Last year, the margin of error exceeded 1%, so the election of GSA was held again.
The period of the public election campaigns was from November 10th to the 23rd, and "The Plus" informed CBNU students about themselves using yellow balloons, yellow memos, and yellow chicken costumes.
"The Plus" promised to freeze school tuition as they would reduce the school support fee because the amount of school support fees was discussed when the National Assembly inspected CBNU in October. In addition, they said that they would plan for new class credit systems. For example, if CBNU students get bad grades, they can remove these grades from their record. They also stated that they would provide free TOEIC tests as well as try to support a mentoring program for finding jobs.
