During the vacation season, outside visitors to our library increased. Particularly, the students from neighboring middle schools or high schools frequently occupied the seats in the Central Library. CBNU students(gaesin people) became discontent with this as it hindered their studies. On Daum's internet cafe CBNU02, students discussed installing a regulating bar at the main gate of the building. Students even made some suggestions to the President's office formally.
On the other hand, some worries that a regulation on entering might diminish student's access. Originally, the Central Library regulated visitors' access with a gate regulating system until 2007. Only Gaesin people who showed their student I.D. cards were permitted to enter the building. However, too many students complained because not all student always brought their I.D. cards. Then, finally, the gate regulating system was abolished. CBT confirmed this problem with the person in charge of the Central Library through a phone interview. "We abolished the gate regulating because of students' complaints. Nowadays, the CBNU library is intended for everybody. If there were any security problem, it could be solved in another way. However, we are not considering the installation of regulating system at the gate."
Contrary to CBNU, most universities operate that regulation system now. CBT visited a library in 'University of Seoul(UOS)' and asked some questions to the manager. He replied, "We(UOS) introduced the gate regulating system five years ago. There were some problems when our computer regulating system was first introduced in front of this library, but students adapted themselves to a new way soon and became satisfied with the system. Nowadays, even if a student forgets his I.D. card, I can open the gate if I know him.
Opinions about the CBNU library should be considered from various aspects. since CBNU has a special role as a national university which has a duty to interact with the regional community.
