Customers are honing their consumer awareness, so many firms around the world deepen the trend of operating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) positively. Many enterprises actively carry out parts of CSR such as voluntary services, campaigns, donations, etc.
Yuhan-Kimberly, a local firm, has conducted environmental campaigns as part of CSR. This company may have damaged the environment as a necessity because trees are the raw material of its main commodities, paper and toilet paper which are made from lumbering trees in forests. However, this company has tried to conduct a campaign whose slogan is, “Keep Korea Green,” since 1984, and has invested lots of time planting trees in Korea. We recognize this enterprise is ethical by taking the lead in the protection of the environment.
 We have a long road ahead to establish a CSR of real meaning in the kernel of business management. Koreans selected Samsung as the best enterprise in carrying out CSR, but we are disappointed with Samsung because it raised a slush fund for political lobbying. The head of an enterprise makes a slush fund by using the company’s money.  It  shows the real state of this globally representative company, we can judge the present level of general enterprises in Korea in this case.
 Expanding the importance of CSR all over the world, many enterprises in foreign countries endeavor to operate aboveboard in management and social contributions. The Walenberg Group in Sweden manages SEB bank, Ericsson and other firms.  Swedes respect the Walenberg Group although it has controlled the management within its family for 150 years. The reason is that they have practiced aboveboard administration and social donations for a long time. Investor, which is the Walenberg’s stock company, holds council and practices aboveboard administration with sincerity by opening meeting agendas to the public.
 Korea is estimated to be less ethical in management than other countries. In the 80’s, absurd administrations and hereditary managements caused cozy relations between politics and business to happen a lot. It’s better than in the past; however, Korea’s companies have to try to raise their level of CSR and ethical management to compete with other leading global companies.
