Since 1951, CBNU has graduated a few celebrities. Kim Byung-chan (Class of ‘81) is an announcer, and Jang Young-cheol (Class of ‘87) is a writer of Moraesigye and Dae Jo-yong. Where should people be going to find eager beavers and celebrities who graduated from CBNU? The answer is to visit the Alumni Association (AA) in CBNU that is located on 7th floor of the Main Building.
AA continues with the help of students and alumni. One of their projects was establishing financial aid in 1965. That has awarded scholarships to CBNU’s students since 1988. Also, AA increases the assets of the scholarship fund by donating funds every year. As a result, it raised a fund of about two hundred million won.
Another project is continuously publishing a new list of members. The list helps students to strengthen their relationships because the occupations and the contact addresses of all members are written on it. Moreover, an alumni bulletin is issued every year. It offers information about the influence of the Alumni Association and the achievements of fellow pupils.
A golf tournament, which is the biggest athletic meeting among the national alumni, is held every spring. Every fall, the alumni athletic meeting, which promotes friendship and unity, is held. It includes a sketch contest for children and a group rope-jumping competition that promotes team spirit. These projects prove that AA does much work for fellow students.
Yoo Kil-yong, who takes charge of Secretary General of AA, said, “After graduation, students should share information here. If people are successes as members of society, they don’t usually inform about achievements. Therefore, improvement of the university is slow.”
CBNU’s students are members of AA. We ought to go on intensifying friendly relations and advancing the university by the order of AA. Maybe the development of CBNU is the development of AA.
