[Efforts to Reduce a Sense of Difference]The Dramas and Animations Help Approaching to Peaceful Reunification
Á¦ 116 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 1970.01.01
South Korea has tried to achieve the peaceful reunification of the North and South.  Also, many people have tried to improve the North-South relations in many different fields. Civic organizations sponsored by ordinary citizens and various media have devoted to make better condition and atmosphere for reunification.
¡®Korea Peace Foundation¡¯ was established to realize the peaceful reunification in 2007. They have supported the North Korean defectors to settle down in South Korea and developed a program to educate teenager defectors. ¡®Sharing Together Society¡¯, which is an affiliated organization, sends milk and powdered formula to children in North Korea. Now, many ordinary citizens donate milk and formula to them.
There are young people who are trying to reunify the two Koreas. They founded the civic group ¡®Tongil-friend.' They have discussed what should be done to improve the North-South relations. There are so many other civic groups. The groups try to contribute to achievement of peaceful reunification in diverse ways.
The drama ¡®Sayugsin¡¯ was broadcast on public TV in 2007. KBS provided to North Korea the production cost and broadcasting equipments. The drama was shot by North Korean staff, actors and actresses. South and North Korea cooperated to shoot a drama together for the first time. Although the ratings were low, the drama 'Sayugsin¡® was valued for setting a foundation of exchange between North and South Korea.
While the drama was a little disappointing, the animation had a very positive impact. The animation titled 'The Little Penguin Pororo' was also produced together by North and South Korea. 'Pororo' is a very cute character, and the animation's contents have a high educational value. The animation was popular with the French and Indonesians, and the merchandising of 'Pororo' produced great result.
North and South Korean have lived for a long time as a divided nation. If they meet together, what will they talk about? The videos, which were made by North and South Korea in coalition, help to reduce a sense of difference. Also, the civic groups play a role in reminding us of reunification. We have to constantly prepare to accept the North Koreans in the hopes that North and South Korea will be reunified.
