  These are lines from the recently ended Korean drama ‘Navillera.’ In this drama, there is a story related to the challenge of a seventy-year-old grandfather who challenges himself to finally pursue his childhood dream of doing ballet. However, unlike the main character in the drama, many people live their lives without a dream. They study hard in high school, with the goal of entering a good university, and try to get a stable or high-paying job. I also enrolled at a university, wandering aimlessly without any goals, and for this reason, several lines in the drama deeply touched my heart. In addition, the main character experiences many failures and is ignored by people around him, but he challenges himself until the end, for the sole reason that his heart beats when he thinks of his dream. Also, throughout the drama, I keep thinking ‘That is what I really wanted to do.’
  Navillera, ‘Like a butterfly’, is a phrase from the poem ‘Buddhist Dance’ written by Poet Cho Ji-hoon. This title implies a moment when any person flies up once in the drama, that is, a moment when people truly achieve what they want to do. Also, the drama has two main characters. One is a seventy-year-old grandfather who has the dream to do ballet, and the other is a male student in the early 20’s who is talented in ballet but wandering. The drama mainly deals with their stories. They are different but have ballet in common. Eventually, they end up finding or achieving what they really want to do in the drama. Throughout this drama, I especially envied one of the main characters, the grandfather, who had ‘Something that he really wanted to do.’
  If you asked me what I really wanted to do, I would have to admit that I’m really not sure yet. Looking back on my high school and middle school years, there was always a subject called ‘Career’, but it always ended abruptly after administering two to three career aptitude tests at the beginning of the semester. After that, students were given self-study time until the end of the semester. I didn’t know if it is because I had little experience related to my dream, but I couldn’t find a career that I really wanted to do until after I graduated from high school. While attending university counseling, I went to the Dept. of Earth Environmental Science just because I liked Earth Environmental which is one of the Science subjects. Now that I think about the decision, I realize that it was an irresponsible decision. However, after studying my major subjects upon entering university, I realized that it was not “What I really wanted to do” and I started wandering. As a result, to find what I really wanted, I challenged myself to join clubs and do volunteering, becoming a CBT reporter, and completing a course in teacher education. In the process of doing this, I suddenly thought of ‘Teaching others,’ the dream that I gave up because I had a tendency to be introverted, and I felt excited just thinking about the future that achieved this. After that, I started a double major in chemistry education and was approaching the dream of teaching others.

  If there is anyone who can’t find what they really want to do, I recommend that they try even the small things people can find in their daily life. I think that life is divided into before and after finding what you really want to do. Perhaps, finding what you really want to do is the most difficult task of one’s life. However, if you find something that makes you happy just thinking about it, you can overcome any adversity.
