When you look up the dictionary, JUSTICE comes from Latin justitia ¡°righteousness, equity,¡± from justus ¡°upright, just,¡± and from the Old French ¡°uprightness, equity, vindication of right, court of justice, judge.¡± This word began to be used in English as a title for a judicial officer. For this, the origin of justice is described as the origin of Justitia, the goddess of Justice within Roman mythology, known as Lady Justice who is an allegorical personification of the moral force in judicial systems and her attributes are a blindfold, a balance, and a sword.
Yes, indeed, as all we now know Lady Justice depicts JUSTICE as equipped with three symbols: a blindfold indicating impartiality; a balance weighing competing claims in each hand; and a sword symbolizing the court¡¯s coercive power. Therefore, when you hear JUSTICE, you naturally think about the idea of law as JUSTICE, which is ¡°righteousness, equity,¡± ¡°upright, just¡± or something ¡°very accurate and cold.¡± In the mean while, it is also true when you recall JUSTICE you imagine the sword first among three symbols which are belong to Lady Justice, because most people think that JUSTICE should be very ¡°cool-headed¡± in order to judge who is guilty or not. Therefore, lawyer who pursuits JUSTICE is occasionally described as a cold-blooded person. In that, people think that JUSTICE are cold enough to sustain our society right and just.
However, some victims of JUSTICE¡¯s ironies are shown as the weak and minorities who should be protected by JUSTICE, since JUSTICE is to treat everyone in the society equally without any consideration on the weak and minorities¡¯ special conditions. According to this nature of JUSTICE, imbalance of the society has been typically become solidified over time. Thus the poor become the poorer, the weak become the weaker and the minorities become the smaller minority by the name of JUSTICE.
After all, it is the time we stand for ¡°WARM JUSTICE¡± rather than ¡°Cold¡± JUSTICE in order to make the really equal society which does treat everyone same, including the weak and the minorities as the others, without any biases. So, I pursue that Lady Justice rather describes ¡°WARM JUSTICE¡± as equipped a Tender Hand which touches the weak¡¯s broken heart; a Warm Heart which treats everyone equally like babies; and a Magnifying Glass which finds the neglected in the corner of our society. Then, I really hope, Lady Justice sees the dark side of all levels of our society, since I know it is theoretically and juridically is not right, but I see something treated unjustice under the name of JUSTICE. So, now is the time we stand for ¡°WARM JUSTICE.¡± I am sure that we can build a new world with the idea of law, WARM JUSTICE, where LOVE is overflowing all over the world.
