[Reporter¡¯s View] Let¡¯s See the Bigger World
Á¦ 151 È£    ¹ßÇàÀÏ : 2014.10.06

I was not interested in my surroundings except for me. I was not especially interested in what the Korean government was doing or how people on the other side of the world lived. Actually, I was busy doing CBT work, studying major subjects and thinking about my future. The higher my grade level is, the harder my life is, so I just thought that I was the busiest and most tired person.
However, my thoughts changed when I wrote this article. There are many different people in the world, and I am just one of them. Looking outside, there are people who are sadder than me and more stressed than me. For instance, in August, a young black boy named Michael Brown died in Ferguson, Missouri. The boy died due to the reason that he didn¡¯t comply with a police officer¡¯s command. He had no gun, and he didn¡¯t resist. However, he died from six shots from a police officer. I could not help being shocked when I first heard the case. Michael was just an 18-year-old boy, and the fact that one of the reasons why he died is just because he is black is very shocking to me. I didn¡¯t know the serious situation of racial discrimination because I think there is not a serious problem in Korea. Actually, it is not because it is not serious but because I wasn¡¯t interested in that. I realized that I didn¡¯t have an interest in what wasn¡¯t related to me. Taking this opportunity, I will broaden my interest from just myself to my surroundings, Korea, going further into the enormous world.
As I look outside, I can see many things. First of all, I can see CBNU campus. There is a woman wearing a neat striped T-shirt and a black skirt walking with her boyfriend, and a man handling a cup of coffee while talking with his friend. Next, I can see Korea. There are controversies related to increasing cigarette prices and citizens who are worried about the increase of car taxes and house taxes. Lastly, I see ISIS who is very aggressive toward U.S.A. and killing American reporters.
This article made me look at the bigger world and think about many things. As my eyes have been opened widely, many thoughts and troubles have come to my mind. I think I grew up taking this opportunity. I think I should try hard to see the bigger world. From now on, I¡¯ll try hard not to focus on myself but to focus on the bigger world.
