High-level ethical standards and sportsmanship are required. As for the NCAA, it provides concrete regulations in relation to the selection of athletes, financial support, training time, and event participation days, which demand strict compliances. The violation of such regulations may cause great damage not only to the involved students, but also to their schools. The NCAA strengthens the qualifications for players and performs thorough evaluation and legal enforcement related to the violation of the NCAA regulations by establishing sub-organizations such as the Enforcement Services and NCAA Eligibility Center. Let's look at an example. Indiana University, which has traditionally owned a strong basketball team, violated the NCAA regulations in 2008 by exceeding a maximum number of calls allowed to student athletes while the team coach was selecting players. The NCAA limits the frequent contacts of coaches during their player selection procedures. As a result, the coach was disqualified from a head coach position and could not work for a university team over a minimum five-year period since then. Moreover, all the scholarship awarded to the basketball team players was cancelled, and the players were banned for the 2008 to 2009 post season along with the penality of a three-year probation. This took a heavy toll not only on the students, but also on the coach and the school. However, with the various regulations aimed to enhance ethical standards and the spirit of sportsmanship, the values of both the NCAA and university sport have improved. 
The organization's main concept is to provide student athletes, coaches, and sports administrators with fair opportunities for participation and accept diversity. This way, the NCAA offers equal opportunities to men and women, and people of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities in the development and distribution of sport. The NCAA mandates not only the fair distribution of sporting events between men and women within universities, but also fair financial support for men and women, and ethnic minorities. For the universities affiliated to the NCAA to take part in sports competitions, the number of the sporting events supported for each men and women should be fairly divided and the financial support for each gender should also be equal. For example, in order for a university to belong to Division I, each men and women  should maintain a minimum of seven sporting events while each including a minimum of two team sporting events.
As for Korea, most athletic competitions including those of university sport are centered on men and the financial support for them also has a clear discrepancy between male and female sport, which calls for the comparison with the NCAA. We pay attention to the NCAA's social role for practicing human dignity and equality. 
Currently, America's university sports has been criticised for becoming overly commercial by raking immense profits through the NCAA's TV broadcasting rights. However, their contribution to American universities and further to the overall American society can not be ignored. My expectation is that Korea's own university sport organization suited to the country's unique circumstances will be formed, which can enhance the role of Korea's university sport and resolve many residual issues such as student athletes' level of education, rights for learning, and whole-person education by effectively identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the NCAA, and this organization will eventually lead to the advancement of Korea's future sport.
