Campus police are charged with several purposes: the safety concerns of prevention, promotion of academic pursuits and elimination of drinking on campus. This system, which has been in place since September of last year, is continuing in this year.
The main activity of this system is to prevent students drinking at Sol-pond and to patrol the school. Drinking near Sol-pond destroys the academic atmosphere in the library and trash thrown around Sol-pond spoils the environment. Therefore, as responsible for running campus police, the Students’ Association warns students not to drink around Sol-pond.
Campus police have good effects, but some duties may cause inconveniences for students. Some students say that the activity of campus police is not enough. The Students’ Association works in some places, like Sol-pond, and they pay little attention to other areas. Also, campus police are needed for preventing false religion from evangelizing. Preaching by the followers of false religion has not been eliminated and is still faced at several places.
Lee Sang-sue, the chief of the General Students’ Association, said “The Students’ Association has warned students in school not to drink, but we can’t stop drinking. I think greenhof is part of the culture of CBNU, so we can’t restrain it too hard. Also, campus police is operated by each college association every day. However, our beat is wide and the appreciation of students is not enough. We asked the police and administrator for help when the followers of false religions evangelize, but there is no effective measure because finding the followers is hard.”
