The renowned French thinker Jean-Paul Sartre said, Life is C between B and D. This means life is ¡°Choosing between Birth and Death.¡± Everyone lives and is placed in numerous moments of choice. In addition to choosing inconsequential things, such as a meal from a menu, there are situations where I have to make consequential choices like a place to stay in the future. All choices, from the very trivial to large-scale ones, may indeed have an important impact on my life.
I used to be quite an impulsive person who was far from careful when it came to making choices. Especially in high school, I impulsively dreamed of a job as a doctor, nutritionist, or researcher when my friends suggested that a white gown would suit me well. Another time, I had a reckless dream of developing a time machine because I wanted to undo failing a test. To achieve this dream, I impulsively started a club and conducted experiments every week. However, in the end, I had to be realistic and choose a department that fits my grades. I applied for the department of information and communication engineering. My high preference for a job as a programmer also played a big role. Anyway, that is how I came to enter the university. However, I was disappointed that there were many things that I couldn't do because I was limited by my high school scores, so I challenged myself in various fields.
Through these activities, I experienced failure and success, and I was able to learn about the benefits of choices over impulses. In a word, I realized that I needed to make a good choice through careful deliberation to get good results. How does one make a good choice? I started by setting some priorities in my own life, and first, I stopped most activities and clubs, and focused on studying. I continued to work hard according to the demands of the second grade. Secondly, I tried to achieve the appropriate level of employment preparation. I also entered a contest and began to develop practical skills as I strived for the award. Third, I started working for an English newspaper. It would ultimately help me a lot to learn about making the right choices through writing articles.
I think writing and taking pictures are essential tools to complete the articles in an English newspaper. It is the responsibility of a CBT reporter to choose and devise this well. All jobs may have a limit, but I also felt that ¡°choice¡± was the biggest responsibility of a reporter through my English newspaper life over the past two years. I started writing articles in earnest after choosing a topic to cover. To deliver accurate information and reliability of the subject, the reporter should be able to search the Internet for relevant information, review it several times, and select the most appropriate content and evidence. The same goes for reviewing that can best convey the content of the article, and creating a design for the article. Through these activities, the three letters of my name, written under the article, came with a heavy sense of responsibility.
As such, I learned about the responsibility of choice from CBT, which began with an impulse, and I became a sub-editor by choice. The editor-in-chief should be involved in the coverage and editing of all pages when publishing newspapers, and if an editor is so inclined, it can sometimes be said to be a place to decide and help together. I want to help the editor-in-chief by showing a sense of responsibility to ensure that CBT becomes a press selected with trust. I think we need time to think and talk constantly about the contents and meaning of the article with probationary and regular reporters and move forward. Still, it is not easy to think and make choices as a sub-editor. Therefore, I hope that CBNU students will appreciate the amount of effort and choice it takes, and be interested in the treasure trove of information contained in one article in our English newspaper.
