¡®Buy: OO lecture Jokbo by Professor XX,¡¯ ¡®Does anyone know if OO lecture Jokbo by Professor XX exists?¡¯, ¡®I want to buy OO lecture Jokbo.¡¯ During the exam period, in the school community (Everytime), users can easily check the post to see if a jokbo exists of a specific lecture. What is this jokbo that students are trying to find by making financial transactions in the community? Jokbo is a collection of past exam questions and lectures by a specific professor. Once students obtain the jokbo of a test or an exam, they may offer a trade or a sale in the community, while others post a request for the jokbo that they require.
CBT conducted an anonymous survey among the university community (Everytime) last month, and students from 6 colleges (College of Humanities, College of Natural Sciences, College of Electrical & Computer Engineering, College of Agriculture, Life & Environment Sciences, College of Education) indicated that they had participated in transactions with seniors and peers. This involved trading cash or gift vouchers with seniors or peers in order to obtain jokbo. Respondents justified acquiring jokbo by citing that ¡®the professor gives the same problem every exam,¡¯ and ¡®the professor¡¯s dereliction of duty. Not only are they aware that if the test questions are the same every year, the corresponding answers to the perfect score may be leaked, but they are also directly checking the situation where many students¡¯ answers overlap. It is also because of the phenomenon of standing by without giving any alternative, where a professor¡¯s standardized type of exam, and the psychology of students who don¡¯t want to study, but want to comfortably get a good score, intersect.¡¯
Are there any legal issues with the act of selling jokbo or making and sharing jokbo? In conclusion, jokbo violates the copyright law. In the Copyright Act, a work refers to a creation that expresses human thoughts or emotions, and according to this law, a teachers¡¯ exam questions can be regarded as copyrighted works. In addition, according to Article 30 of this Act, genealogy sales and jokbo sharing are violations of the Copyright Act because they fall under the act of sharing to an unspecified number of people or selling them for a fee.
Illegality is not the only problem. More than 60% of the survey respondents said they had a negative view of jokbo, and at the same time responded that they thought jokbo was an aspect of school management. As such, students are aware of the need for improvement for various problems that arise with jokbo. A respondent from the College of Electrical & Computer Engineering said, ¡°The fact that jokbo is created means that the type of questions has been the same for several years, and students will have tenure rather than simply developing their major or their ability to explore the subject. I agree that it is important to secure grades right away, but I am at a loss as there is no solution to why I am studying after coming to university.¡± An anonymous respondent expressed concern that jokbo reduces the level of learning. A respondent belonging to the College of Electrical & Computer Engineering said, ¡°There is no way there is no Jokbo. One way or another, someone will come up with something like jokbo. In order to prevent this, it would be better to go in the direction of uploading the previous test papers transparently, rather than sharing it clandestinely to only some people. It is a too big disadvantage for some students who could not be saved, and it seems that this needs to be corrected institutionally.¡± He mentioned the need for an institutional solution. However, not everyone had negative thoughts about jokbo. A respondent belonging to the College of Engineering said, ¡°Professors have their own pattern of test questions, but if you take a class with a professor you don¡¯t know well, you don¡¯t know their test pattern. I hope everyone can access jokbo fairly.¡±
An Exam Bank may be a way to make use of the positive parts of jokbo that can support study in the form of past exam questions and to negate the illegality of jokbo. In the case of some overseas universities, they operate question banks and provide practice questions, past exam questions, and past test questions to students to support their studies. The University of Leeds in the UK operates Past Examination Papers (archive of past examination papers) to provide all test papers that will be helpful for study, and the school manages the test papers that are presented by updating the archive once a year. Australia¡¯s Queen¡¯s University operates an Exam Bank as a service to help with study, providing test papers from the past 10 years. There is an example of running a question bank in domestic universities. Seoul National University has opened a website called SNU Jokbo to share past exam questions, Busan National University is operating a question bank as part of the BK21 project, and some departments provide past exam questions on their department websites. In fact, more than 70% of the survey respondents answered that they had a positive view of running a question bank at school in the form of past exam questions rather than jokbo, and respondents from the College of Agriculture, Life & Environment Sciences, responded that the school had to solve problems related to genealogy. It was mentioned that the banking system should be tried.
Jokbo requires students to memorize, not understand and explore major knowledge. Jokbo threatens the university's purpose of cultivating excellent talents who pursue learning, and CBNU urgently needs a solution to it.
