You can hear the familiar sound while walking on campus in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening. ¡°Here is the sound of truth and justice and the Chungbuk University Broadcasting Station.¡± The Chungbuk University Broadcasting Station (CUBS) broadcasts the addictive sound, though we sometimes have paid little attention to it. So what does the CUBS do? Let¡¯s zoom in on CUBS that is located on the third floor of the New Students Hall.
CUBS has given information and news to CBNU¡¯s students for forty seven years since 1961. The CUBS always broadcasts live, so every time they are strained. Because the broadcast is only radio, they have to make images from sound. For that reason, the staff members can¡¯t neglect studying music as well as speaking. However, they were depressed that these efforts were heard only for a matter of minutes. Park So-hee, who is a producer, said, ¡°I am sad by the low participation and the desires of stopping broadcasting. However, I have more responsibilities, and now, I am greedy for more listeners.¡± The programs made by the efforts are various and fun beyond expectations. In particular, ¡®To you¡¯ is among the programs and broadcasts tunes and letters given by students at lunchtime. It is popular with students. Also, you can listen to diverse genres of music in the morning, and there are programs of listening to LPs, talk
ing about the suggestive contents and playing a serial drama. Lim Seo-yeon (Dept. of German Language and Literature, 2) who participated in the program said, ¡°Although I felt shame that my friends listened to the broadcast, it was a time to remember.¡±
Lee Yun-iee, who is the chief of the CUBS, said that she hopes many active students of CBNU are interested in our university including the CUBS.
The CUBS began readying hard for the next broadcast again today after the broadcast ended. CBT hopes that the CUBS will go on being the ears and eyes of students.
