[Desk Column] What I Learned from My Trip

Having been busy for a year, I could not go on a trip. I had piles of work to do all the time and spent my days exhausting myself. When I got home, I hit the sack without any leisure time, and the days went on and on. I wanted to escape from this daily life during winter vacation, so I put my work off and went on a trip to Europe with my college friends in a fit of rage. It was my first overseas trip since I entered university, so I was excited. I worked hard to save money by doing a part-time job and prepared for the trip by buying clothes I had always wanted to buy.
First, I checked in to the hotel in Munich in Germany, breathed in the night air and went out to enjoy some fun on my trip. I made memories while I was visiting historic sites in Germany. I visited a beer house in Munich, where people were already enjoying the festive mood. Communication with people from Europe was definitely different from that of people from Korea. When we see foreigners in Korea, we usually look at them with a curious look or give them one more glance, but the people in Europe I saw laughed and said hello when I met them. I could quickly feel at ease with them. I am not saying that Europeans are better than us. I just think the society they live in has evolved more. The first person I saw came up and talked about the history of Europe. It is not something you can experience in Korea so casually.
This article is not just a diary. As I took this trip, I found some peace of mind and took a rest to enjoy the thoughts that I normally can¡¯t. When I was a freshman, I started to do many things because I thought that I could find what I wanted to do in a place where I could have various experiences. Working at CBT is a good example of that, and now I feel even more uncomfortable knowing that I won¡¯t be a member of it in the near future. I thought that my hard and busy life was the driving force of my life. However, I could not get motivated and I had no drive to do anything during vacation. During vacation, my friends were looking for another job, but I was the only one who wandered.
At that time, it was traveling that gave my life a boost. In addition, the theme of my trip was to visit places related to the movies. Traveling gave me a lot of experiences. Experiencing new and strange surroundings and interacting with new people refreshed the daily boring relationships that were repeated throughout the semester. It was a trip without a guide, so I enjoyed sightseeing and seeing the beautiful structures of Prague, and I also enjoyed the many scenic views. As I spent more time reflecting on my life, I asked myself for advice on how to live in the future. Also, I could chat with people who lived in a different culture, understand their values, and see them singing in the bars during the weekends; most of them live with ease.
Life has its ups and downs; why don¡¯t you take a stroll and spend some time alone? Perhaps while traveling, you can learn more about yourself and regain your composure. Readers should also relax in their own worlds, away from work or school, from time to time.
