As many as 371 festivals were held during last August in Korea. Many festivals are held in various regions. However, most people leave that region after just enjoying a festival. I also visited Jecheon to see the Jecheon International Music and Film Festival, but the city named Jecheon is more memorable than just the Jecheon International Music and Film Festival in my memory after a two day trip.
The Jecheon International Music and Film Festival is a combination of film and music. It focused on music and films that we can not easily experience. It was interesting, but I think the impression of this trip wouldn¡¯t have remained in my mind if I had just gone home after seeing only the festival. I had an opportunity to tour Jecheon, not just the festival this time. Jecheon is surrounded by high mountains and has a lake called Cheongpungho, so the scenery is wonderful. Tourists can enjoy the beautiful scenery with a pleasure boat or a monorail. The scenery is not the only thing to enjoy in Jecheon. In Jecheon, medicinal herbs that grow in the mountains surrounding it are a famous food source. I could not help eating the food made from medicinal herbs, which also contained no artificial flavors.
I think it was a great experience to tour Jecheon after seeing the festival. I usually go to a region just to see a festival and then come back home without seeing the region. Most people also similarly do this. People don't think about looking around the region after seeing the festival because their aim was only to watch it. However, if they tour a region holding a festival, the pleasure is double. It is foolish to watch a festival without experiencing the regional culture, different foods, and wonderful scenery.
It has a lot of benefits to tour a region holding a festival. If you already plan to see a festival, I hope you see not only the festival but also the region. I believe that the pleasure of traveling becomes bigger than before if you see the region properly.
