A few months ago, there was a terrible food crisis called the Sae-u-KKang uproar. Before the issue disappeared from our thinking, a melamine problem made us more confused. These cases are representative examples to show the situation that present society is losing a craftsman-mind. I frequently saw the TV program entitled ¡°Masters of life.¡± Since the TV show deals with people who lived a hard life, people get easily stimulated by their stories. The masters, having a pride, had a consciousness that they did their best even when others didn¡¯t appreciate their achievement. The TV show focuses on their enthusiasm for their work, and has formed a professional spirit which guided fundamental principles. When our ancestors made ceramics, if there was even a small imperfection, they would destroy the piece, because it could not meet their high standards. It happened all the time. Today, we can find blacksmith artisans who have carried on their family line. These craftsmen work with blistered hands and damaged bodies. Also, we can say that people who try to become the best in their field have the craftsman mind. I think that we need a professional mind like the master¡¯s. When we choose our majors related to a job, we should think of a future career that we are interested in rather than a career that guarantees a lot of money and a high position. Obtaining the craftsman¡¯s mind is not hard. If you like your work, you already have that. Is there a better way to enjoy life?
