What is the 'I am Goong' project?
The 'I am Goong' project, where students participate voluntarily, was started to improve campus life. The project consists of a coupon business to improve the regional trading area, a bus service that connects the school and market places, and cultural performances.

Park Se-sang, who is a representative of a youth organization, started the "I am Goong" project which tries to promote campus life and the regional trading area in the  Goong-dong area adjacent to Chungnam University in Daejeon. CBT interviewed about how his vision on changing the world.-Ed

"'I am Goong' is a youth organization that submits passion as a resume and receives dreams as a salary." That was his first comment when we asked him to briefly introduce the project. He continued telling his story with his eyes twinkling. Though he stayed up all night for his work before he met us, he showed no signs of fatigue.
"I am Goong" was organized by students with a sense of ownership to help students and to improve the quality of campus. The main purpose of the project is the promotion of the regional trading area. However, it were not easy to run the project. A coupon business for connecting each store has suffered defeat after defeat because of merchants' distrust of students. Also, a bus service for connecting markets and the university to provide shoppers, had troubles because of lake of funding. He issued the coupons and ran the buses after he persuaded merchants many times and took a survey with hundreds of students. After his continuous efforts, merchants opened their minds.
Also, he organized cultural performances in Goong-dong, where bars  line the streets. He invites student clubs to give free performances. Students perform in the streets near the bars, and they seem to enjoy it. He makes up the shortfall at his own expense . With his hard work, the number of performances has increased and they have been developed into a festival named "Goong Arte".
Despite being a senior, he has never taken a TOEIC test. He neglected managing his grades at school because he buried himself in the "I am Goong" project. Nevertheless, he has been offered jobs with famous large companies, but he refused the offers. "If you can't do what you want to do, you can't live a happy life even if you enter a major company."
Building a career is just a standard goal to be recruited. He said that people have to consider more essential things that companies need. He emphasizes various approaches rather than keeping up with other people.
He has had various experiences other than "I am Goong". He obtained a health training certificate and worked as a trainer. He also had a career as an ambassador of Chungnam University. Not long ago, he took a trip to Japan for ten days without money. He said that he learned much from the journey. "My hobby is 'to challenge'," he said with a smile.
His dream is to hear from others, "I feel very lucky to have met you," and he said that he will try anything to achieve his dream. He emphasizes that acting first is very important. He said that changing the world starts from practicing small actions.
