Students can find their lost articles in the Lost and Found page of the CBNU homepage.
There are more than 20,000 students in CBNU, so it is easy to lose things on campus. However, lost articles are wandering around looking for their original owners.
There are many lost articles in CBNU, but there are not enough lost and found offices. Moreover, there is no united office in CBNU for managing lost articles. If someone finds lost articles, he or she is supposed to hand them to the management office in the main library or the student union building. Aside from those places, the finders should notify the CBNU homepage or the student community website. However, in this way, it¡¯s inconvenient for the owners of lost articles to check the sites. Moreover, students argue that the chances to find their lost articles are limited because there is no solution to find them if the owners don¡¯t know where they¡¯ve lost their items.
In fact, Kim Jun-seong(¡¯12, School of Information and Communication Engineering) said, ¡°I lost my hat in CBNU. I finally found it after a few days, but there were many difficulties. Moreover, lost articles rarely can be found at their owners¡¯ college since the owners are usually unknown. If it is impossible to find the owners, lost articles are sent to other colleges¡¯ offices and notices about them are uploaded on Facebook. However, since not all of the students check Facebook that often, there is no way for students who don¡¯t use Facebook.
Son Jeong-hyun(¡¯16, Dept. of Archaeology and Art History) said, ¡°I lost my earphones while I was strolling in school. The problem was that I didn¡¯t know where I lost them, so I gave up on finding them after looking around the school. There could be someone who found my earphones and advertised it, but I¡¯m not used to checking CBNU¡¯s homepage or the community website that often and I don¡¯t even use Facebook.¡±
However, CBNU¡¯s Student Union argues that there is no way to solve the problem yet. The Student Union said, ¡°Although each college manages lost articles, people seldom visit us. If lost articles are handed in to each college¡¯s office, there is no special storage for them. Thus, they keep them in their warehouses and post notices about them via Kakao Talk. However, this way is so ineffective because few students find their articles by the end of each semester, and that is rare.¡± Therefore, an opinion of the Student Union is that it is necessary to establish a united lost and found office.
Many students feel that there is a problem with the management of lost articles at CBNU. They argue that it would be much easier to find lost articles if there were united lost and found office that notified students about the lost articles on a specific website. In those ways, they wouldn¡¯t waste unnecessary space, and students could take less time to find their lost articles.
