Have you heard of the official blog press corps ¡®Chung-Bli¡¯? It delivers the news in a friendly way as a blog newsletter. The blog has come into the spotlight recently due to the increase in the number of students who have seen the news on Facebook. We, CBT, with much curiosity and great anticipation, met three people, Park Da-hwin(the president) and two student reporters, Lee Seung-yong(¡¯12, Department of Fashion Design), and Jeon
Sang-ah(¡¯13, Department of Food and Nutrition).
Please introduce Chung-Bli.
Park: ¡®Chung-Bli¡¯ is the abbreviation for ¡®CBNU Blog Issue Maker.¡¯ The school had an original blog on which the news of official school events was uploaded. We started to recruit the press corps with the purpose, ¡®Let¡¯s make a blog led by young people that has plenty of articles that can be read by local residents as well as members of school.¡¯ The recruitment began from October to November, 2013. Every procedure from beginning to end, such as planning meetings, writing articles, and revisions, was completed by students themselves.
What do you think about the activities of the press corps? What are the pros and cons?
Lee: I used to enjoy reading, but I was not good at writing since there was rare opportunity. Now, I¡¯m writing various types of pieces and I feel my vocabulary has increased. However, there is no concrete system because it is still new and small in size. If more people come and it becomes well-organized, we will cooperate complementarily and do better work.
Jeon: It¡¯s good that I can quickly obtain the latest school news as a blog reporter. I can get information foremost from the publicity department since Chung-Bli belongs to it. I feel worthwhile when people say they can read the news without difficulty by an easy medium due to my articles.
What is the significance of Chung-Bli and what are the requirements for becoming a better blog?
Park: There has been an explosive increase in the number of visitors. Less than 100 people per a day came to the blog at the very beginning, but now more than 3,000 people visit the blog. I dedicate this honor to our student reporters who have worked really hard. Furthermore, we received an inquiry from another university wondering if we are managed by outsourcing. I consider it meaningful that students themselves have made a medium through which we can promote our school.
Lee: I hope Chung-Bli will be more recognized by our students. It is well-known locally, but students are not yet familiar with it and are curious about it saying, ¡°What is this for?¡± If Chung-Bli becomes more widely known and people start to have more interest, we will be more responsible, and operational problems such as the unstructured system and the deficiency of reporters will be solved.
