The e-learning system is a learning management system, which has been conducted from the first semester of 2011. The system has been maintained till now, but its usage does not seem to have increased even after 2 years have passed.
The total number of classes in the university supported with eCampus is 2,432, and it is also used in every college. However, there are in fact many eCampus classes not used though they superficially exist. Giving a questionnaire to 162 students of CBNU, it showed that 0.6 classes in average were actually using the program out of 6.1 classes.
eCampus has normally been used for giving additional help to classes such as students¡¯ e-learning usage rate, material uploads and downloads, and assignment submissions. We can access eCampus through its homepage (http://ecampus.cbnu. ac.kr) or the banner on the CBNU information system by giving the ID and password used in the CBNU information system. eCampus supports a video lecturing system and developing learning contents of audio, video, authoring tools and 3D through the e-studio.
Jeong Ji-su (Dept. of Management Information System, ¡¯11) said, ¡°I use eCampus for downloading materials that my professor gives. The benefit I think is that I can approach each class dataroom with a one-time login, and there¡¯s no need to move here and there to receive materials from every class homepage. However, not all professors¡¯ classes that I am taking use eCampus. It seems eCampus can be utilized in many ways not only for class management, but I haven¡¯t used any one of them. Also, sometimes it is annoying to be blocked from accessing eCampus pages.¡±
Professor Cho Wan-sup (Dept. of Management Information System) said, ¡°I use eCampus for class guidance and to upload materials. By using eCampus, I can encourage communication between students better than before. It is convenient, and students seem satisfied, too. On the other hand, our school is still far behind in online education. I was disappointed while using the system when the connection between the CBNU information system and eCampus was not good, the quality of video lectures was poor, and online lecture contents was not approved to give credits for the deficiency of school rules.¡± He suggested, ¡°eCampus needs to resolve the continuous inconvenience and to keep developing to give satisfaction to its users.¡±
Kim Eun-hee, the manager of Center for Teaching and Learning said, ¡°A video lecture can be conveyed to students through an online classroom, in which visual contents and chat rooms are available. It can be used as distance classes or makeup lessons. Students can simply enter into a classroom typing the classroom address. In the e-studio, professors can make teaching materials by using the tools. We are prepared with tools and constantly mending them, but there are not many demands for our system. Only a few professors who know about the system use it.¡± She added, ¡°For active usage, development of various e-learning contents and improved satisfaction, supporting professors who use the eCampus and providing and managing an ample budget will be needed.¡±
