'Response 3057' had weekly meetings during the vacation.
¡®Response 3057¡¯(Response)
General Students Association(GSA) is in preparation for its coming regular activities. In the 45th GSA election on November 28th in 2012, Response was elected with 26% of the vote by 2,290 students out of 8,643 students.
Response already performed one of their pledges that the GSA president takes only 3 course credits, which are the least credits for registration, during a semester. Therefore, he can use his time more for GSA activities. Moreover, the rest of the GSA members are devoting themselves to GSA as they regularly attend weekly meetings for pledge implementations.
Response highly regards the communication with students as a priority. The 3057 in the GSA¡¯s name is the last part of GSA¡¯s office phone number. It means that they are always ready to hear various opinions from students. In addition, Response is receiving pledges, which students want GSA to implement, throughout GSA¡¯s online communities such as Naver café, Nate club and Facebook. Response prepared 3 more ways to communicate with students. First, Response is officially going to have meetings with students. In a spacious room, a large number of students can solve their curiosities about school policy with GSA the last day of each month. Second, Response is going to operate a ¡®maximum 24 hours bulletin board¡¯ where they answer every question within 24 hours in GSA¡¯s online community. Lastly, they are going to provide a smart phone application about GSA for easier communication with students by sponsorship of corporation.
Response tries to implement as many pledges as possible through associations with corporations. Response helps companies to advertise what they want to the students and receives sponsorships to save money. ¡®Long march through national lands¡¯, which is going to walk across the entire nation this summer and is usually for the younger generation, is a good example of sponsorship. Response is planning to receive sponsorships continuously for many pledges on a large scale.
Many GSAs have been criticized for their poor activities in the end of their terms for a long time. Jin Jae-kwon(¡¯06, Dept. of Consumer Studies), the president of Response GSA, revealed his opinion saying, ¡°We decided to complete all of our pledges before November as we regard this problem seriously.¡± To avoid the lame-duck phenomenon, he plans to finish all the pledges by stepping ahead rather than special preparation. Additionally, he gathered every member of GSA during vacation for meetings to draw negotiations about their pledges with the head office of Chungbuk National University(CBNU).
According to a survey from the students of CBNU, 72% of students answered ¡®highly expect¡¯ and ¡®expect¡¯ to the question about the expectation of the new GSA. 33% of students chose ¡®A grade percentage upward adjustment¡¯ to the question ¡®what is your favorite pledge of Response GSA?¡¯ Choi Hyung-jun(¡¯10, Dept. of Information and Statistics) said, ¡°Receiving an A is very important for my grades.¡± ¡®Opening 100% expense reports of GSA¡¯ and ¡®permission for sleeping out of dormitory¡¯ were also ranked for the same question. Most students expressed their expectation to Response GSA¡¯s activities saying, ¡°I hope they will perform their pledges well.¡± Some students wanted new pledges such as ¡®School cafeteria menu improvement¡¯ and ¡®wi-fi installation at the reading room of the main library¡¯.
President Jin Jae-kwon expressed his determined resolution to give up his studies. He expressed aspirations saying, ¡°I am going to work only for students¡¯ welfare and convenience, so I hope to hear the compliments of the best GSA with the best regards from the students.¡± Furthermore, he emphasizes smooth communication with students highlighting the GSA¡¯s motto, response.
