On November 26th, CBNU held the election of the 41st General Students¡¯ Association (GSA). Last year, there was only one candidate for election. However, three teams compete for the election this year. This is why the campaign for votes was more competitive than last year.
The voting rate was about 60.7%. Lee Sang-sue (Major in Food Science and Technology, 3) and Koo Yul-seu (Major of Chemical Engineering, 3) were elected to president and vice-president of the GSA respectively. They belong to ¡®Hwangsogojip¡¯ and their approval rating was about 46.40%. The vice-president said, ¡°We will put into practice our election pledges gradually and will negotiate with the university or the staff of CBNU about a registration fee after this year.¡±
However, they have generated some controversy. First of all, it is the feasibility of the election pledges. It is wondered how they can create a library break room even though there is no space for lockers in the library. Also, the issue of a full-time supermarket has been raised annually, but it hasn¡¯t materialized. They should have investigated why the bill has not materialized. Furthermore, if they had a conference with the administration it would have been good.
The second issue is the attitude of the president. ¡®Hwangsogojip¡¯ caused a sensation because he was absent at the policy debate before he was elected. Everyone can have an unavoidable circumstance, but it must not happen repeatedly. However, he canceled the radio debate, which was broadcast by CBNU for students, before the vote was held. Moreover, he did not attend the broadcasting after he was elected. Institutions among the press in CBNU could not interview with GSA, so students could not receive his impressions or resolutions.
CBNU was sorry that they did not make any situation for the minimum qualifications of the GSA. They should maintain their sincerity like the stubbornness of the bull. Fourteen thousand CBNU students might expect that the GSA would not fail that expectation.
