CBT searched for ¡®60¡¯ for the 60th school anniversary. Let¡¯s listen to the various stories from students and what they want from their school. -Ed
A professor who is 60 years old
Who are you? I¡¯m Professor Huh Gyoung-jo in the college of Education. When I became a professor 30 years ago, I decided I would work as a professor for my whole life. I have been working hard to do my best for education, but I feel sadness now that I face my retirement, because I regret I didn¡¯t have better self-development and did not encourage enough my students to be more active.
To CBNU Students have to pursue more important things in university life than just finding jobs. Studying for getting jobs is also important, but I hope that the students study hard in their majors more professionally and enthusiastically. If they do their best in their fields, they can find the jobs naturally.
A student who goes to the library at 6 o¡¯clock
Who are you? My name is Nam Doo-hyun, School of Business ¡¯05. I used to come to the library at about 6 o¡¯clock to be diligent because I was feeling lazy during my leave of absence. I go to an English class at private institute early in the morning and review the lectures after going back to the library. I feel a sense of accomplishment and I feel really great.
To CBNU I think study groups in CBNU are not that active. Some students gather voluntarily, but those groups are very small-scaled and the groups have limitations for studying in more depth. If our school supported study groups, it would be helpful.
The 60th student who passed the main gate in CBNU
Who are you? I¡¯m Lee In-hee, the department of Economics ¡¯08. Now I am on a leave of absence, but I have been studying in school to prevent laziness. I want to be a public administrative officer. It is not easy to come to school early in the morning, but I have been studying hard because the employment chances are limited.
To CBNU CBNU has to respect students¡¯ opinions. A rally against our school was held last semester. I think it is because our school didn¡¯t listen to students¡¯ voices well. CBNU has to respect the students who are important members of university.
A student who has donated his blood 60 times
Who are you? My name is Seo Seong-won, School of Business ¡¯05. I have donated blood since I was in the army. One of my acquaintances was sick at that time. Blood donation was the only thing that I could do for him. After he passed away, I have often donated blood to help other unhealthy people.
To CBNU I think CBNU has to implement policies that students can agree on. Last couple of years were very eventful. For example, students opposed the construction of a golf course, and students refused to pay their unfair tuition fees. Those situations were caused because our school policies couldn¡¯t gain students¡¯ consent. I hope that CBNU will be more open to students¡¯ opinions.
