Before leaving, I couldn¡¯t sleep well. I was very excited even though it wasn¡¯t my first time to go to China. As soon as I arrived in China, I felt very nervous because I heard that the immigration process was very tough for the Olympic games. Fortunately, we could pass the immigration without any problems, and we went to an ancient palace in ShenYang. While I paid a visit to the ancient palace, I noticed I didn¡¯t have enough knowledge of Chinese culture even though my major is Chinese Literature, so I thought to myself that I will study hard. After that, we had one more flight and arrived in the village LiangSu. The stars glittered beautifully in the sky, and we had our first dream in China.
The next day, our new lives in China started. The hardest thing in China was the hot weather, but we cooperated with each other, and we performed our program perfectly. In the afternoon, we met children who lived in the village. It was a little awkward at first, but as time went by, we were familiar with them through games and self-introductions. Especially in my case, two girls liked me a lot, so I called them my daughters. I can¡¯t forget their innocence until now. On the other hand, we still feel sorry for them because we didn¡¯t have enough time to play with them.
Then, we went to the next village called JeongAm. Our purpose of going there was to clean the
village with the village people, but we had only 3 days to stay there, so we didn¡¯t have enough time to familiarize ourselves with villagers. However, our volunteers promised that even though 3 days were really short time, we did our best while staying here. So we helped them with our best and after this, we were very satisfied.
At first, when I participated in this program, I didn¡¯t have that many expectations, but during the 15 days, we spent a great time together, and overcame hard time together. I had wonderful experiences more than I expected. Above all, one of the best gifts for me was I had a new family, 3 fathers and 19 siblings.
