[Editorial] Going beyond the Limits of Reason

There is no simple way of understanding our life, as the age-old classic dichotomy of reason and unreason is being demolished. The world is actually an extraordinary place that frequently negates logic and is always full of mysteries and miracles. By going beyond the limits of reason, we should perhaps be able to understand these paranormal events and happenings.

A Rags to Riches Story, The Lawyer Kim Han-geun

There is a man who was able to live a different life thanks to the words from his supervisor. The words helped him focus on the bar exam for 7 years without giving up. As a result, he passed the examination. The CBT reporters met Kim Han-geun, a lawyer for the law firm Joo-seong, which successfully deals with all sorts of construction disputes and legal matters regarding fair trade. -Ed.

The 2017 Gaesin Festival

Last October, from the 11th to the 12th, the 2017 Gaesin Festival was held. This year, the student council was especially absent, so the Emergency Planning Committee and Festival Arrangement Committee initiated the Emergency Operations, which means they would rescue all CBNU students who were tired from daily life. The food booths and activity booths were run by each department, clubs, and some organizations.

Crossed Views about the Existence of the Dept. of Science Education

Last October, a student of the College of Education wrote in the CBNU Bamboo, which posts anonymous reports for students. The student questioned why the Dept. of Science Education appeared with their pubs, the Gaesin Festival, athletics meets, the Haeoleum Festival and orientation. Though there were 13 departments of the College of Education, they merged their departments into just four.

[Campus People] Sawadee! The Exchange Students, Na-ra and Dong-hun, from Thailand

The CBT reporters met exchange students Kritsanasang Narawadee(’17, Dept. of History) and Phothong Thonthep(’17, Dept. of Korean Education) from Thailand and heard their stories about campus life in Korea. Through this interview, we really hope that exchange students will have more chances to communicate with Koreans.

Bloody Responsibility

Young men in Korea who are around 20 years old are labeled as Korean soldiers. With some exceptions, most Korean men have to serve in the army and live as soldiers for at least 18 months. During that period, they devote themselves to country with a belief that they have to defend their own country at any cost, but they are separated from the society that they must protect.

Heading to a Mature Society

Last August 30th, there was a big issue on the official website of the Blue House when someone demanded a revision to the law to allow women to participate in the transition of mandatory military service. The petition closed on September 14, and about 120,000 people signed it. Through the petition, the conflicts between males and females escalated, and a number of petitions regarding gender equality were posted by each side.
