However, people are passing over the real meaning of Well-being and degenerating to commercialism nowadays.

These days, the drama which has the biggest audience rating is "Queen Seon-deok". "Queen Seon-deok" has been noticed by more viewers for each episode as its program rating has passed 40%. When people search for recent popular programs, there are many historical dramas like "Jewel in the Palace(Dae Jang Guem)" and "Prince of the Legend(Jumong)". Historical dramas are difficult to approach. Nevertheless, why are the historical dramas popular? | |

Due to the effects of the media, negative opinions about adoption are disappearing a great deal. However, the prejudice against adoption still remains. In this issue, CBT looks at the changing opinions about adoption and proposes what we have to change in the system of adoption. | |

According to the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, for 6 years, from 2003 to 2008, the number of domestic adopted handicapped children was only 135. However, 3,428 handicapped children were adopted in foreign countries, which is over 25.4 times higher than Korea. These days, although social recognition about adoption has improved, people still avoid adopting children with disabilities. Severely handicapped children are difficult to be adopted. It is because Koreans consider particular conditions, such as children’s blood type and the background of their real parents. | |

The reason that May 11 was appointed as Adoption’s Day follows, “As a family(1) adopts child(1), the family is reborn(1+1).” The government has endeavored to break free of the disgraceful title “Baby exporting country” by improving adoption system. However, the system alone is not enough in Korea to make new families through adoption. | |

Korea ranks top in the suicide rate and the rate of increase among the OECD countries. Two-thirds of suicides in Korea are people who have had depression during their lifetime. Depression is predicted to be one of the three major diseases in 2030, we can say that it is enough to endanger people’s lives and it is common today. If so, what is the depression that gives bad effects to both patients and a society? | |

There are three factors that causes depression: biological factors, psychological factors, and sociological factors. | |

Depression is frequently expressed as “a cold of the mind.” That means that this illness is easy to catch, and it is also easily cured, like a cold. However, depression patients may kill themselves if they do not get proper treatment. Recently, the proportion of depression patients has increased. Therefore, reports by the press about incidents related to depression have also increased. For these reasons, depression is no longer an illness unaccustomed to the masses. This depression causes many social problems. | |
