CBNU¡¯s First Event With a Chungbuk Cheongju FC, ¡°The Day of CBNU,¡± Ended Successfully

  While greeting ¡°The Day of CBNU¡±, on last March 17, a very special event occurred for Chungbuk Cheongju FC and student council ¡°Gaehwa.¡± ¡°The Day of CBNU¡± is the event where CBNU collaborated with a professional football team for the first time. It began with the MOU between the student council, aiming for local development, and Chungbuk Cheongju FC, the localʼs only professional soccer team which is participating in the K LEAGUE 2 since last year. Student council Gaehwa commented ¡°We wanted to provide the new culture, ʻwatching soccerʼ with football club. We are planning various projects about new culture, where watching a soccer game can be established in university. Hence, the first event ʻThe Day of CBNU.ʼ¡±

  On this day, a home-game of Chungbuk Cheongju FC vs FC Anyang was held at the Cheongju Sports Complex. Around 200 students participated in this event. Kim Eye clinic, the sponsor of CBNU offered free tickets. The student council prepared event booths called ¡ãA support message to Chungbuk Cheongju FC ¡ãAbility examination of Chungbuk Cheongju FC ¡ãFind real Chungbuk Cheongju FC! and ensured that not only students but also citizens could participate. Also, they provided various gifts by lottery when people uploaded images of the game to Instagram. While matching, there was a half-time performance of CBNUʼs cheerleaders club ¡°Neulherang.¡±

  A student A (College of Social Sciences, 24) who participated in the event said ¡°I came here with my friend because the student council provided free tickets. This is my first time to watch soccer match directly, and it was fun.¡± Lee Soon-jae (Dept. of Physics, 23) said ¡°I am really into soccer, so I wanted to watch the soccer match of Cheongju FC. In addition, there is a fun event of the student council so that makes me come here. I did not expect that much, but it was fun than I expected.¡± Also, Jeon Myeong-gyun (Dept. of Philosophy, 21) said ¡°I love soccer so I paid for watching the opening game. This time, the student council provided free tickets so if there are home-games after, I will keep watching it. Although the game ended in a draw, it was fun, and Ku Hyun-junʼs goal was impressive.¡±

  The 25th CBNU Student Councilʼs director of external cooperation Park Sun-jong (Dept. of Engineering chemistry, 21) said about this event ¡°I feel really great about our universityʼs first project with a professional football club progressing successfully. Although this club has only been running for a year, the student council and soccer club was able to match Chungbuk Cheongju FC to the university, and furthermore to Cheongju-si and Chungcheongbuk-do.¡± Also, he said, ¡°I hope Chungbuk Cheongju FC becomes integrated into our university culture and increases its recognition and gathers fandom as strong as other popular clubs in Korea. The student council will try to provide various cultural events with Chungbuk Cheongju FC for students after ʻThe Day of CBNUʼ¡± while adding thankful comments. 
  Furthermore, the student council commented about planning the event ¡°This event occurred off-campus, so we are planning to hold an event inside the university grounds. Gaesin Daedong Festival will be held during the 2nd semester, we are planning a spring culture festival to have a more meaningful 1st semester. During the culture festival, we are going to invite Chungbuk Cheongju FC players to our campus and have an autography event. We are planning to host various events and programs with the team.¡± Also, he added ¡°We are also planning to organize not only a one-time event, but also long-term projects where students can visit the stadium and enjoy all things related to Chungbuk Cheongju FC any time.¡±
